Introduction

The Apache Junction Scrapbooks were maintained by a historian within the Apache Junction Women’s Club.  They documented the history, and contributions, of the Women’s Club. Trish Pelletier, currently a supervisor at the Apache Junction Library, was involved in the Women’s Club for several years and now keeps the scrapbooks at the Public Library.

Major Contributions Found in the Scrapbooks:

  • The first major project was the library
  • Offshoots of the group included both Democratic and Republican memberships
  • Worked with the Arizona Highway Patrol on drive and vehicle safety initiatives
  • Art shows and community fundraising
  • Gender equity – worked with Arizona state senators in 1966
  • More information from the 1970’s and 1980’s is needed
    • Need help with field excursions to help with scanning and digitizing of images and information.
