The library is a prime example of an easy to trace, historical example of community values. Even before the city’s incorporation, the library moved locations, and in the mid 1960s, had two separate offers for free leases.

The project of rebuilding the Apache Junction library according to the Apache Sentinel, “After careful consideration, the [Civic] council turned it over to the Woman’s club for its major community project” (Sentinel, pg 4, August 13, 1965).

The Club according to the Sentinel “spearheaded the [library] idea, presenting it to the Civic Council who in turn helped launch the project” (Sentinal July 9, 1965).
Facilitated and initiated by the Apache Junction GFWC Woman’s Club.
Apache Junction Women’s Club staffed the library voluntarily, every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday morning and afternoon.
